Eyelid disorders can be acquired or congenital. Acquired disorders can be the consequence of disease, injury or the aging process.
Eyelid malpositions can be in the form of: drooping upper lid (ptosis), everted eyelid (ectropion), inverted eyelid (entropion) and streching (laxity) of the lid.
Tumours of the eyelids and periocular region can be benign or malignant. Benign tumours, besides being an esthetic problem, can cause functional problems for the eye, due to their size and location. In these cases they need to be surgically removed. Malignant tumours should be recognized in the early stages of development, since they can metastasize in addition to local destruction of tissues. Timely surgical excision with reconstruction of the affected area is still the therapy of choice.
There are also conditions caused by the aging of the of the eyelids and periocular region, mostly in the form of sagging of soft tissues.
We perform all types of plastic and reconstructive operations on the eyelids and periocular region.
